Bellyful of jiggers

What do you call it when there’s two? Penii? Scrotii? Hmm.

There they were, plain as day on the now-familiar ultrasound screen. One boy.. two boys. Six ounces each, right on target.

My girl(s) went pouf! … but I know the bittersweetness will fade.

These boys will fill all voids, them with their sparkling big brother. They will be exactly the family we are destined to have, and after they arrive, we won’t be able to imagine anything different.

Even before I was pregnant with Sadie, I too only wanted a girl, but then when I saw/read about your life with Evan (which started just as I became preggo), I changed my mind - you made me want a boy just as much. You are such a fantastic mother to your little man, you won't miss a little girl once they arrive. Who needs dresses and tights when you have Frenchy's - Evan is the best dressed child I have ever seen. I think Sadie has been in a dress 10 times in her life so you ain't missin' much. At least you are experienced in the boy department and can you imagine 2 teenage girls!?! That thought is scary enough, boys are easier in the long run... or so I hear. I hope you are feeling 100% soon, that dreaded Norwalk is terrible. ps-thanks for wanting a little Sadie, that is so sweet!! I was so touched when I read that.

Too bad Gram Joe isn't around to give advice... older brother with twins? She'd know just the trick!

Congratulations! Three boys, a brood, a fine little team of mischief and adventure with Evan at the helm. What an amazing journey you're on.

Oh boy(s)!! ha haWow...I'm actually kinda jealous. I can totally picture your gorgeous family! *sigh*Well, at least now, knowing, you have a lot of hand me downs from Evan right?

Daphne did say she heard boys were easier in the long run...she may be right, but having a boy...is very challenging at this age...3/4 years! YIKES. But yes, I'm kinda glad I won't have a teenage girl! Cell phones, clothes, fashion, the latest stuff, makeup, boys, malls, "I hate you" comments....locking themselves in their rooms doing god knows what! But then again...boys will lock themselves in their rooms doing god knows what too....ACK!!Kel

I read your previous post, just a moment ago, having noted at a glance at *this* post that you're carrying boys... having a girl is wonderful, but I *do* long for a boy, as well... and the idea of three boys, rambling rambunctious boys, happy puppies, little men, seems *absolutely* wonderful.

And? With a girl, you brace yourself for future conflict of feminine wills. She WILL oppose me, I know, in a way that she will never oppose her beloved father. Ah, the dream of boys...

The Inglis boys...I like the sound of it...and you're so right, once they're here, you won't be able to imagine it any other way. The great name hunt is on - other than Kevin and Devon, I'd say the field's wide open!

Whoa Kate! What a grand adventure your life is/will be. Just think of the hijinks they'll get up to all three of them together. Now that you know, can you picture it all a little better and does it seem less overwhelming? Or, more so??

I am two weeks away from finding out what I've got going on in here, and I'm almost wishing boy at this point, just for the fun of it, especially for Andrew's sake.

Oh man, the previous poster just made me realize you have to come up with two whole separate names. I can't think of a single one for my guy (if he's a guy, that is). What's Evan's middle name? Did you have any "leftover" names you liked but didn't use for him??

Thanks all for the congrats. We certainly did find out sooner than I'd expected... three little bulldogs!

Evan's middle name is Alexander, after my mom's father. It fit with his first and last names, and has some history too.

We had Evan's name picked out almost as soon as we got pregnant. It just came to me all at once, Justin liked it, and we never considered any other options. But couldn't for the life of us think of any girl names. And the same thing happened this time - we have boys names chosen (firsts and middles), but again, couldn't think of any girl names. Go figure...

For some reason I have an easy time thinking of all kinds of boy names that I like. Most are relatively short and old.. like Ian, Lucas.. and I've always liked Angus too (Gus for short). So Jen, I wonder if that means you're having a girl, that you're stuck on boy names? That's my pattern!

BTW none of the names above are the final ones we chose. We need some degree of surprise, right? :)

When Aaron and I found out we were pregnant my grandmother (who had three boys) suggested very earnestly that we have a girl (I think she may have forgotten exactly how it works). I admit I fantasized about pretty dresses and pigtails -- alas, alas.

I told Aaron that the *only* way I might even be convinced to go through the "hell that is me pregnant(TM)" again is if we can have a girl. Of course, if hypothetical Ziggy 2.0 (whom Aaron is already calling "Zag") turned out to be a boy, I might just cry. Or love it, who knows!

Congrats on the boys! What is meant to be will be, and I'm sure it'll be wonderful!

Just another quick blog suggestion:

http://fruitsaladfamily.wordpress.com/

She had a two-year-old and then became pregnant with twins, who were born in September, I believe. Pretty funny, honest stuff.

Love your (TM) melissa, that's perfect. :)

Thanks Jen for yet another blog - I've already been digging around in her archives in search of similar anxieties. And found them, with humour to boot. yay!

we had the perfect boy and girl names for Duncan, so if we ever decide to take the plunge again (which in this sleep-deprived state isn't likely) I'm not sure we could think of another boy's name....
